On Saturday, April 26, 2014, Operation Clean Government held its seventh annual Candidate School. Forty-five potential candidates and eight RIC students gathered at Rhode Island College to learn the nuts and bolts of running an organized, ethical campaign. Topics included campaign planning, message development, Rhode Island’s campaign laws, handling the media, fundraising, using social media tools, and more.
Participants in the 2014 Candidate school will be engaged in a variety of political campaigns in 2014: including General Assembly, City and Town Council, and School Committee. All Rhode Islanders will benefit from the efforts of the 2014 Candidate School participants to run smart, ethical campaigns that will focus on issues important to the voters.
This was Operation Clean Government’s seventh Candidate School since the tradition began in 2002.
